Finally!!! The bridges entering Puerto Viejo are getting expanded to two lanes and a bike lane. The Playa Negra bridge, Puerto Viejo bridge, and Cocles bridge will be completely done. These are exciting news to Puerto Viejo residents and visitors because this expansion project aims to alleviate traffic congestion and improve safety for both residents and visitors.

So… be patient driving to Puerto Viejo. MOPT, our department of transportation, is regulating traffic as you are entering town and the total project is estimated to last 8 months. During this time, alternative routes may be suggested, and periodic updates on the progress of the project will be provided to the public. Please plan your travels accordingly and stay informed about any changes to the road conditions.
