Founder & Owner | Caribbean Costa Rica Real Estate Real Estate Professional | International Sales & Investment Specialist Born and raised in Costa Rica, Maria Chaves brings extensive international sales experience and a deep understanding of the real estate industry in both the United States and Costa Rica. Her professional career began in the hospitality industry, where she worked as International Sales Manager for the Meliá Hotels International Sales Department in San José, Costa Rica. This position allowed her to develop strong business relationships and gain valuable experience working with international clients across Central America, South America, and the United States. Driven by her ambition to expand her professional career, Maria moved to the United States, where she continued working in sales management. She held a Sales Manager position with Java City Coffee Company in California before relocating to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she continued her career in sales with McLane Company (formerly McClain). Her passion for real estate eventually led her to obtain her real estate license with RE/MAX in Minnesota. She successfully represented buyers and sellers throughout the St. Paul and Minneapolis metropolitan area, gaining valuable experience in the U.S. real estate market. After returning to Costa Rica, Maria brought her international experience and business knowledge to the country's real estate industry. She spent eight years working as a real estate agent in the South Pacific region, specializing in helping international buyers discover investment opportunities and properties in Costa Rica. Although she had established herself in the South Pacific, Maria always felt a special connection to Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. Recognizing the region's potential and wanting to build something of her own, she founded Caribbean Costa Rica Real Estate in 2019–2020. Throughout this journey, Maria received approaches from several international real estate franchises but made a conscious decision to build an independent, locally rooted company instead. Her vision was to create a professional real estate agency that supports the local community, employs certified Costa Rican real estate agents, and provides multilingual service to international and national clients. Today, Maria leads a dedicated team of local professionals, combining international business standards with authentic local knowledge. With more than 100 real estate transactions completed throughout her career, she understands the expectations of foreign investors and the importance of providing reliable guidance, transparency, and professional support throughout the buying and selling process. Beyond real estate sales, Maria has expanded the company's services to include property management, construction coordination, and project management, offering clients continued support long after their property purchase.
